Jewelry Care Guide: Elevating Your Jewelry Experience

Welcome to Nina Blume, where each piece of jewelry is not just an accessory, but a delicate embodiment of elegance and artistry. Like a cherished memory, our jewelry is special in your heart, deserving the utmost care and attention.

While we understand that caring for jewelry can sometimes feel meticulous, the beauty and longevity it impart to your treasured pieces make every effort worthwhile.

JEWELRY CARE
Gold or Rhodium plating can wear off with time. To prolong the plating and preserve the jewelry's shine and luster, follow the tips below:

STORAGE INDIVIDUALLY
Store each piece of jewelry separately to prevent scratching and tangling. Use the specially designed Nina Blume pouch or box that comes with your purchase to ensure the best care for your jewelry.

AVOID CONTACT WITH CHEMICALS
Avoid direct contact with perfumes, lotions, and cleaning products. Put on your jewelry after applying lotions and perfumes. Remove the jewelry when using cleaning products, as direct contact can contribute to faster fading of the gold plating.

GENTLE CLEANING
- After each wear, use a soft cloth to gently wipe away dirt and oils from your jewelry before storing it.
- Use a mild soap solution for deeper cleaning;** rinse thoroughly and pat dry.

REMOVE BEFORE ACTIVITIES
Take off plated jewelry before swimming, exercising, or engaging in vigorous activities to avoid scratching or prolonged contact with sweat.

REMOVE BEFORE SLEEP
Take off your jewelry before bed to prevent it from getting scratched, bent, or damaged while you sleep.

AVOID ABRASIVE MATERIALS
Do not use abrasive cleaners, polishing cloths, or brushes, as these can scratch the gold plating and cause it to wear off.

SPECIFIC CARE

Gold Plated Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is inherently water-resistant and can withstand an average amount of water and sweat without tarnishing. However, to preserve the gold plating:
Avoid contact with pool water, as chlorine can accelerate the fading of the gold plating.
Avoid sea salt and excessive sweat, as they can contribute to the gradual wearing off of the gold plating over time.

Gold or Rhodium Plated Brass or 925 Sterling Silver
Keep your jewelry dry and avoid prolonged exposure to water and sweat. Remove jewelry before showering, swimming, or engaging in water activities to prevent tarnishing and damage.

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

925 Silver Base

Be mindful of tarnishing when wearing gold or rhodium-plated jewelry over 925 silver. Silver tarnishes more readily than brass, and while the plating protects it, any wear can expose the silver underneath. Regular cleaning and proper storage are crucial.

Brass Base

For jewelry with a brass base, ensure it is completely dry before storing to prevent potential corrosion. Brass can tarnish and corrode more quickly if exposed to moisture.

By following these care instructions, you can help ensure your gold or rhodium-plated jewelry remains beautiful and lasts longer.
